Our itinerary
Day 1 - Naples
- visited Naples National Archeological Museum, that offers a fascinating historical overview of the art and culture of ancient Pompei - The majority on the recovered artefacts from Pompeii are displayed here so if Pompeii interests you make sure to take in both venues
- visited Duomo di Santa Maria Assunta - Naples Cathedral
- witnessed a Sunday procession going around Cathedral and down the small narrow streets of the Old City
- enjoyed the energy of Via dei Tribunali and the hundreds of Diego Maradona murals and shrines
Day 2 - Naples
- visited the Toledo Station - the glittering silver-blue walls that were designed to make you feel like you’re traversing through the ground and into the sea were definitely worth the visit - Simply Amazing!
- savoured tradition Italian coffee while admiring the glass roof and dome of the Galleria Umberto I
- visited Piazza del Plebiscito and took a peak at Vesuvius Mountain and Bay of Naples
- enjoyed a Affogato at the oldest cafe in Naples - the famous Gran Caffe Gambrinus originally opened in 1860 and still exudes Old World charm
- joined Walking Tour and took funicular to the Upper City - on the walk down we learned about Castel Sant’Elmo, Castel dell’Ovo, Spanish neighbourhood, Royal Palace of Naples and San Carlo Theatre
- visited Via San Gregorio Armeno District and found the original Banksy Madonna - Madonna con la Pistola -painted by Banksy
Day 3 - Pompeii and Sorrento
- visited Pompeii Archeological Site
Day 4 - Capri
- enjoyed a full day power boat adventure to Capri Island and back
Day 5 - Sorrento to Amalfi
- experienced one of the best bus rides of our life - for 3,40 euro each we spent 2 exciting hours hanging to our lives and experiencing amazing views, winding roads, high cliffs, 90 degrees curves, vertical villages, cars parked on the cliff edges, scary over taking, and some serious crazy Italian-style driving
Day 6 - Amalfi
- explored the beautiful village of Amalfi - situated on a mountainside overlooking the sea
Day 7 - Positano and Salerno
- took the early morning ferry
- walked around colorful, picturesque village, beautifully hidden among the hills and cliffs
- decided to beat arriving crowds and jumped on the ferry to Salerno
- enjoyed a slow ferry ride along famous Amalfi coast
- took a walk on the Lungomare Trieste - beautiful pedestrian walkway along the beach
- visited Salerno Cathedral and the Crypt - the most stunning cathedral crypt we have ever encountered
- explored Salerno’s historic center - felt like a real Italian city
- enjoyed the evening ferry ride back to Amalfi
Day 8 - Amalfi to Naples
- spent the morning in Amalfi
- took the Jet-boat from Amalfi Town to Naples
- spent the afternoon exploring the Maradona District
- enjoyed our last pizza at Naples oldest Pizzeria, L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele (Featured in Eat-Pray-Love)

Travel tips
- airport is very close to the city - take green Alibus (5 euro, 15 min) lub taxi (fixed price 21-23 euro)
- they add „coperto” to the restaurant bill - 2-5 euro per pax
- coffee standing at the bar is cheaper (1,50 euro) that when sitting at the table (3,50 euro)
- breakfast at the hotel is usually „Italian style” - coffee and sweet pastry
- from Naples to Pompeii take CON express, then carry on to Sorrento (15 euro, 5x a day) - use front door to board
- SITA bus from Sorrento to Amalfi - (1,5h, every 30 min, 3,40 euro) - sit on the right site to see the amazing views
- buses get crowded, especially in summer—get to the stop early!
- if you’re prone to motion sickness, take a window seat (but be warned, the cliffs are steep)
- validate your ticket as soon as you board to avoid a fine
- there is Capri tax - 10 euro per person per day, take a bus from the marina (every 30 min)
- there is tax in every hotel - 3-4,50 euro day, need to pay cash at check in
- Amalfi coast ferry - book tickets online earlier (need to check in at the both) or buy them for the same day at the pier, for bags you pay extra (3 euro)
