Our itinerary
Day 1 - 11.12.2024 - Antwerp
- took an early flight from Gdansk to Eindhoven and after a brief bus and train journey we arrived in Antwerp
- visited a central Train Station - stunning!
- enjoyed a first (of many) real Luikse Wafels
- participated in a Walking Tour of Historic Center of Antwerp - including: City Hall, Guild Houses, Get Steen, Jesuit Square, Old City Walls, Museum Plantin-Moretus and Vlaeykensgang Passage
- enjoyed a Stella Draft in Antwerp’s Oldest Bar - Quinten Marius dated 1565
- toured the beautifully decorated Christmas Market at front of Cathedral of Our Lady
- enjoyed a lovely dinner at Van Dijck restaurant (mussels!!!)
Day 2 - 12.12.2024 - Antwerp to Bruges
- enjoyed breakfast at famous Royal Cafe in the Antwerp Central Train Station
- took a morning train to Bruges
- strolled Market Square’s beautifully decorated for Christmas Shops
- attended another great walking tour - thank you Gosia!!!
- we learned a ton history and laughed as we visited: Belfry - Belfort van Brugge, Stock Exchange Building, Basilica of the Holy Blood, Cruise the Canals, Town Hall, Groeninge Museum, Sint-Jansspitaal (Old Saint John's Hospital), Visited Tanner Square - Huidenvettersplein
- photograph the Famed St. Boniface Bridge - smallest bridge
- admired the Church of Our Lady - Michelangelo’s Madonna of Bruges
- toured one of many chocolate shops
- visited a 500-year-old brewery in the heart of Bruges - De Halve Maan Brewery, with the world's first beer pipeline
Day 3 - 13.12.2024 - Bruges to Ghent to Brussels
- started the day with quick coffee and a visit to the City Hall’s Gothic Room - truly spectacular
- visited the Basilica of the Holy Blood where we caught a glimpse of a relic of the Holy Blood
- cruised the Canals by boat enjoying a view from a different perspective
- visited the Church of Our Lady - where we admired Michelangelo’s Madonna of Bruges
- took the train to Ghent
- visited the Historical City Center of Ghent and it's Christmas Market
- enjoyed the medieval architecture on a scenic canal boat cruise
- caught the intercity train from Ghent to Brussels
Day 4 - 14.12.2024 - Brussels
- participated in a Walking Tour of the Historical Center of Brussels - learning about Grand Place / Grote Markt, Manneken Pis, Downtown Brussels, Royal Galeries, Cathedral of St. Michael & St. Gudula, Royal Palace, Mont des Arts
- met up with our Belgium friend and Travel Companion Jim (Jordan / Iceland)
- Jim introduced us to authentic Belgium Fry’s at famous Maison Antoine - a local restaurant outside of the City Center
- enjoyed a locally brewed beers at Brussels Beer Project bar
- had a wonderful traditional dinner consisting of steak and mussels cooked in local brew
- enjoyed an amazing Christmas Light Show in the Grand Place Market
Day 5 - 15.12.2024 - Brussels
- enjoyed early morning explorations of central Brussels where we visited the stunning St. Michel at Gudule Cathedral, the Manneken Pis, the TinTin Shop and the famous Plattesteen Cafe
- met up with our Belgian friends for lunch at the Noordzee Fish Restaurant
- toured the famous Brussels “Atomium” - Build for the 1958 World's Fair - Absolutely worth the visit !
- enjoyed dinner at the city's famous Spaghetti Restaurant, the "Brown Bar of Brussels" known by the locals as “Billie”
- drove from Brussels to Eindhoven in the Netherlands in preparation for our early flight home
Day 6 - 16.12.2024 - Eidhoven
