Transportation
In Pathos we used local busses - one ride is €2.
We rented a car from Chris Car Hire in Paphos:
- paid €100 for 3 days + €300 deposit
- they drive on the left-hand side of the road like in the UK and overtake on the right
- speed limits are 50/80/100 km/h

Travel tips
General
- very pleasant weather, 16-18 degrees during the day, jacket recommended for the evenings
- the water in the sea was even warmer than at the hotel pool
- around 5 p.m. the sun sets (beautiful) and nearly immediately it gets completely dark
- it rained a bit for two days, but there was also one day of total sun 🙂
- the "off-season" feeling was great for us - few people, peace and quiet
Paphos
- local bus ride €2, you can purchase tickets from the driver
- right next to the hotel we had a promenade leading to the port - it was a great walk
- there is a small Paphos Castle and open pubs in the port, very nice (beer €4.50)
- the Old Town Paphos is 3 km away from the harbour, we got there by bus (€2), some of the shops were closed, but the streets were charming
- next to the port there is an entrance to UNESCO Paphos Archeological Site (€4.5) - a very large area of ruins, at the entrance there is a QR code to download an app with a map and a guide; beautifully preserved mosaics
- also nearby Kings Tombs / Tombs of the Kings - small but interesting ruins
We rented a car for 3 days - (€100 + €300 deposit which was returned to the account two days after returning the car; Agnieszka, a Polish woman at the rental company - provided us with a map and recommendations) left-hand traffic (you have to be very careful entering the roundabout 😉 rather few cars during the day, a bit crowded in mountain towns, but we managed; we drove to Cape Greko via the (free) highway; we saw quite a lot of police with radars - on the highway the speed limit is 100 km per hour, apart from 50/65 km/h
Day 1:
- Aphrodite Rock - great place, large parking lot on the other side of the highway, stairs down next to the kiosk and a tunnel to the beach; beautiful stones on the beach
- Omodos Village - a beautiful stone village, we had a delicious lunch at Taverna Themelio
- it is worth trying there the oldest wine in Cyprus - Comandaria
Day 2:
- we took the highway to the other end of Cyprus to Cape Greko, the part near the lighthouse is fenced, but there are beautiful Sea Caves nearby, the famous "Bridge of Love", a stone bridge, etc., great views
- Nissi Beach - nice, sandy beach, the water is unfortunately cold but beautifully sapphire blue, we were hoping for a beach bar but everything was closed
- Larnaca Salt Lake - managed to see flamingos - there were very close to the shore, you can't go on the beach to avoid scaring them; we drove along the road along the lake (near the airport) and stopped at the parking lot at "best flamingos view point"
Day 3:
- Kremiotis Waterfalls - not worth the trip, a long way through mud, admission 1€ but probably only in the season
- Kritou Terra - a stone town - it was raining so we didn't walk much, but it was very nice
- Sterna Winery & Wine Museum - a nice experience, a small museum showing wine production, for 5 euros/person "wine tasting" - the gentleman talks about the cultivation and production of wine, white/rosé/red wine is tested, additionally 10 years old kept in barrels (delicious!) and local moonshine - zavatar, the package includes bread, olive oil, olives and water; there is also a well-stocked shop not only with wine, but also with cool souvenirs (olive oil, soaps, magnets, etc.)
- two local taverns were recommended to us - Petradaki was still closed, so we went to Fytos Grill House - we had a delicious food - squid, baked halumni, salads, souvlaki plus a liter of local wine - it was €54 for dinner for 4 people 😉 we recommend it!!
