Our itinerary

Day 1 - 11.08.2023

  • we took a quick, three hour, flight from Gdansk to Reykjavik

  • we were amazed how light it is outside at 10 pm

  • enjoyed our first glimpses of the Icelandic nature scape from a luxurious empty bus to the city centre

Day 2 - 12.08.2023

  • we purchased two classic Icelandic sweaters at The Handknitting Association of Iceland
  • enjoyed The Pride Parade on the Rainbow Street
  • we met our traveling partners from Belgium, Jim and Nona and got a rental car
  • we caught small ferry to a remote island Vestmannaeyjar

Day 3 - 13.08.2023

  • we explored the Stórhöfði (Storhofdi) cliffs early morning to Puffins
  • we toured Eldheimar Museum “The Pompey of the North” - site of volcanic eruption in 1973
  • we climbed Eldfell Volcano
  • we visited wild Icelandic horses
  • we took the ferry back the the mainland
  • we walked around the amazing Seljalandsfoss waterfall and visited hidden Gljufrabui waterfall
  • we visited one of the biggest waterfalls in Iceland - Skógafoss waterfall, where we climbed 527 stairs to the top

Day 4 - 14.08.2023

  • we started our day with a Blueberry Pancake breakfast with a view of the lava fields and snow capped Icelandic Mountains
  • attempted to drive to Sigöldugljúfur Canyon, however, the road condition prohibited us from completing the journey
  • visited a tiny local church nestled in the Icelandic mountains
  • visited the moss covered lava fields formed from the 1763 volcanic eruption
  • visited the Skaftárhreppur waterfalls
  • visited the spectacular Lomagnour Mountain Scenic Spot
  • hiked to the Svartifoss waterfall, known for its black basalt columns

Day 5 - 15.08.2023

  • visited the Hofskirkja Moss Church build in 1883
  • visited Fjallsárlón glacial lagoon
  • walked along the beautiful black sanded Diamond Beach
  • visited an amazing Jökulsárlón glacial lake where we rescued a piece of floating iceberg and took it home
  • enjoyed evening whiskeys chilled with 1000 year old iceberg ice

Day 6 - 16.08.2023

  • spent the morning driving to the amazing Sigöldugljúfur Canyon
  • we hiked along the bank until we reached the picturess basalt lava pillars

Day 7 - 17.08.2023

  • visited Vik for a little shopping and a quick lunch
  • visited the Reynisfjara Beach (Black Sand Beach featured in the Game of Thrones Season 7 “Beyond the Wall” Episode)
  • drove to the top of the Dyrhólaey Viewpoint where we enjoyed a staggering views of Iceland's South Coast and Dyrhólaey Arch
  • visited the ancient rock houses of Drangurinn í Drangshlíð
  • stayed in amazing Geysir Hotel

Day 8 - 18.08.2023

  • woke very early to visit the Strokkur Geyser Fields before the crowds arrived
  • explored Iceland famous “Golden Circle”
  • visited the Iceland’s biggest and most famous waterfall - the Gullfoss waterfall
  • hiked around the ridge line of the Kerid Crater 
  • soaked for hours in The Blue Lagoon thermal hot springs

Day 9 - 19.08.2023

  • explored the capital city of Reykjavik
  • visited Harpa Concert Hall and Kolaportid, the largest flea market
  •  we discovered that the City was celebrating its 237 Birthday with street parties, live music and a wonderful evening concert

Day 10 - 20.08.2023

  • early fly back to Gdańsk, Poland
